Well it is official! I have registered in the BMO Vancouver Marathon which takes place on May 1, 2016. And, because I have never run such a long distance before, I have joined the Running Room's Marathon Clinic starting January 5th! I'm scared already. The journey has begun.
Stats for today:
Weight: Since I don't own a scale, I am guessing 145 lbs. Maybe more, Christmas dinner, extra wine, cookies, chocolates and cheese and crackers may put me closer to 150 lbs- but who is really paying attention to weight anyway? It may be self-evident, but a person who doesn't own a scale, likely doesn't keep track of her weight either. I usually notice I gain weight when my black pants no longer fit, so perhaps I should use the black pants as a measure. Currently, they don't fit. If they fit by May 1st, then I"ll know I lost weight. Very precise. I'm not sure if Weight Watchers would approve of this method of measurement, but really, is the main thing in this journey weight loss? I think not. Why don't I just forget about measuring my weight? Next blog: no weight comment.

General Comments:
So officially, my training hasn't started yet, but I am signed up for the Pacific Road Runners First Half Marathon on February 14th, so, I have been trying to stay fit enough to complete it in a time that isn't a PW ( personal worst). I am not technically training, but it still feels like training. Its more like non training-training. The bad news in my non training- training is that I have managed to already acquire chafing on my inner thighs from running 16 km in the pouring sleet last weekend. Rather unpleasant, and not the best way to start my first ever marathon training.
The good news, is that I feel good :healthy ( in spite of the fact that my children sneeze on me daily) and pain free. My Achilles, which can cause me problems, has been behaving itself and I generally feel strong when I run.
I am looking forward to the journey of ups and downs, aches and pains and most of all, crossing the finish line with not too much damage done.
